Peace Palace (Al Salam Palace Museum)

• We spent an hour and a half here, learning the history of Kuwait as well as re-learning about Desert Storm 

• We were the only people inside the building, we had 3 different tour guides, and it seems that the museum administrator or manager followed us through our entire tour.  At no point were there not a set of eyes on us. There was only one room where we were allowed to take pictures or videos, but the team was very kind and offered to take them for us. 

• The museum was very impressive, with incredible interactive exhibitions

Kuwait Towers

• Went up 120 meters (that was the floor number) to take a look at the city from above

• The call to prayer recording went off while we were in the towers, and our guide let us know that across the city, if the call to prayer isn’t broadcast, then the overhead music will at least stop while the call to prayer is being broadcast. 

Kuwait’s Opera House 

• Drove by it, but the building is beautiful 

AlSadu Society

• We were taken to a place where many people are involved in preserving the textiles and designs of Kuwaiti art. A room full of women collaborating and working on designs to produce. There were also historic artifacts of tapestries and other daily life items for Kuwaitis from previous years. 

Americani Cultural Center

• We toured a once hospital turned into museum that American Christian Missionaries built in the 60s to share medicine as well as hopefully have some converts. 

Avenues Mall 

• An alarm went off briefly, several sections of the mall had different themes from Europe to Seoul

• We caved and went to Chipotle for lunch - it was busy and tasted just how it might back home! Got some Pinkberry too - with sprinkles 

• Saw a futuristic open elevator taking groups of people down one floor

• The mall had butlers you could hire to carry your shopping bags. Gave Hailey some ideas!

Eat/Drink

SinToHo Asian - at the Four Seasons Hotel

• Many tables were celebrating special occasions with rose petals on the table

• The food was incredible! Egg fried rice, wagyu sliders, tuna otoro sashimi, and so on

Dai Forni Italian - at the Four Seasons Hotel

• Again, many tables were celebrating special occasions with flowers on the table

• 4 people working inside the restaurant were from Bhutan and we had a fun time reminiscing with them. There were surprised to hear that we knew their country as well as we did. 

Flying over Kuwait you can see all the oil fields and refineries. It was between 110 and 115 degrees the entire time - and we were close to the coast. We started our tour of Kuwait City at 8:30 in the morning while it was cooler. First impressions, although alcohol is banned in its entirety, it didn’t seem to be an extreme place. A perk of the Kuwaiti culture was that the gym was separate, so men and women worked out in separate gyms. We left on Jazeera flight to Baku, Azerbaijan and only 10% of the flight was female.
